Editorial and Publishing Process for Combustion Journal

Author

  • Submission: Upload manuscript and entry metadata.
  • Submission Review: Author can track progress, view files, submit revisions, and resubmit at editor’s request.
  • Submission Editing: Author reviews copyediting and proofs of the galley.

Editor

  1. Submission Queue: The Principal Editor assigns the submission to an Associate Editor for review.
  2. Submission Review:
    • Check submission for format and adherence to guidelines.
    • Conduct peer review.
    • Reach a decision on whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected.
  3. Submission Editing:
    • Copyedit submission and format the galley.
    • Proofread the galley before the final submission.
  4. Issue Management:
    • Create issues for the journal.
    • Schedule publication.
    • Organize the table of contents.
  5. Publication:
    • Immediate open access for accepted articles.
  6. Current Issue:
    • Items appear with reading tools linking to internal and external resources.

Journal Manager, Reviewer, Copyeditor, Layout Editor, Proofreader

  • Journal Management: Setup and configure the journal, enroll editors, reviewers, copyeditors, and proofreaders.
  • Select Reviewers: Editor selects reviewers from a database.
  • Review Conducted: Reviewers submit reviews and recommendations.
  • Copyediting: Review copyedited submission.
  • Layout: Format the manuscript for publication.
  • Proofreading: Final proofreading of the formatted manuscript.

Submission Archive

  • Complete record kept of the submission process for both published and declined items.

Journal Archive

  • Browsing issues with indexing by OAI search engine and Google, etc.
