Abstract

Mathematics as one of the subjects taught in elementary school serves to develop the ability to communicate using numbers, symbols, and aims to train how to think systematically, logically, critically, creatively and consistently. Children are expected to be skilled in applying it in daily life, but the reality in the field is that many children experience difficulties, especially the ability to calculate the volume of shapes. So that the ability to calculate volume in elementary school can be improved, it can take advantage of learning resources around students in the form of concrete objects. By using concrete objects, children are able to carry out logical activities in solving problems, this is a way to overcome learning problems at SDN Lumbang II, Lumbang District, Probolinggo Regency for the 2019/2020 Academic Year. This study describes an increase in learning outcomes of roots and cubes. To achieve this goal, a classroom action research was conducted in Class V SDN Lumbang II, Lumbang District, Probolinggo Regency. The data from this research were obtained by observation, interview, and documentation methods. In the implementation of this research, other friends are involved as observers and collaborate with other colleagues. The implementation of research activities is carried out with two cycles of action and a different focus. Each Cycle is carried out in two actions or two learning meetings. Cycle I, the first meeting on 23 September 2019 and the second meeting on 30 September 2019. Cycle II, the first meeting on 7 October 2019 and the second meeting on 19 October 2019. Each cycle consists of the following stages: planning, giving action, making observations, making analysis and reflection. The results showed that (1) the application of the Make A Match Method by paying attention to the right learning steps, it can increase student activity in learning and for teachers in managing learning. 2019/2020. The increase in learning outcomes was marked by an increase in the mastery of student learning outcomes in each cycle, namely the achievement of the first cycle (66.67%) and the second cycle increased to (93.33%).
